OMG!  I can't believe I haven't posted here in so long!  We've been so busy since we returned from Christmas Vacation.  I am swamped with HS Recommendations, but they are almost complete.  All transcripts and test scores will go out in the mail on Thursday afternoon 1/24.

Remember next weeks various Catholic Schools Week activities and help your student dress/prepare accordingly.

PE Uniform orders went home today.  These are OPTIONAL.  Students who purchase them may wear them ONLY on PE days, but not if there is a Mass scheduled.  Please make checks payable to HSS.

Sorry I haven't posted here in a while.  We've been busy since we returned from Thanksgiving break.  HSPT class is done and many of you are working to finish up your applications for high school.  Please rest assured that all recommendations will be prepared when we resume school in January and all transcripts and test scores will be sent to the high school as well.

I'm sure I'll see many of you throughout next week at one time or another, but if we miss each other, please accept my warmest wishes for a Blessed Christmas!  Enjoy each other; enjoy your time away from school.  The second half of the year is going to fly by!

                                      Merry Christmas!!!

Well!  We're back from Caritas, and hopefully everyone is well rested and looking forward to continuing our academic year.  I will see all of you at conferences later this week to discuss current progress as well as the future.

At this point, you should have viewed some of the high school websitesd and determined which schools would be a good fit for your student.  I encourage you to attend the numerous "Open Houses" as well as register your student to shadow once you have narrowed down the choices.  Please remember to schedule shadow dates every OTHER week so your student doesn't miss too much critical instructional time.  If you haven't done this, please do so as soon as possible.  Shadow dates are limited and are only held in the fall.

Our Class Sweatshirts have arrived!  I was unable to unbox and take inventory today, so I'm hoping to have the ready to distribute by Thursday afternoon.  I'd like to hold them hostage in return for the Cathedral Field Trip Form!  LOL  Anyway, please do make sure your student brings their field trip form along with payment by Thursday, September 20.  Our trip is on Tuesday, September 25.

Caritas invoices have gone out and the first payment (if paying in two installments) is due at the end of the month.  I hate to say it, but that is the end of next week!  Please send your checks to me in the classroom so I can record the payment before turning the over to the office to deposit.

You should be helping your student organize their things for the trip.  Remember no luggage that they can't manage on their own.  Roller luggage is not recommended since they will be going up and down hills that are graveled paths or dirt paths.  Duffel bags are easier.

A camera is a nice item to bring and we do need students to take pictures for our Caritas program in the spring.  However, please do not sent expensive camera equipment as we cannot ensure total safety of these items.  Let me know if any questions arise.

Whew!  It's been busy!  Caritas Info night for parents - done.  Back to School Night - done.

High School Info page has been updated with Open House dates as well as South Bay HS Info nights for a more intimate presentation with the South Bay schools.  Please verify with the school websites as some require advance registration for Open House.

Shadow date registration will open soon.  Be sure to sign up early as dates are limited.  Be sure to schedule only one per week and hopefully with a week in between so students don't miss too much instructional time.

CARITAS is coming up quickly.  If you have not submitted your students paperwork, you must do this next week!  Class Sweatshirt orders will be finalized on Wed 9/12, so please take care of that at well.

HSPT class is taking shape and we will definitely have enough students!  If you have not yet sent in your registration fee of $400 as you were waiting to see if we had enough students, please do so now to confirm.  I will order books on Wednesday 9/12 so we have them in time for the first class on Monday 9/17.

August 27, 2018

Baseline STAR testing begins this week.  8th grade is scheduled for Tuesday morning, August 28.  Be sure to have your student get a good night of sleep and eat a good breakfast!  Don't forget about the Caritas Parent Info meeting on Wednesday, August 29 at 6pm in the 8th grade classroom!

August 24, 2018

Just sent you all an email about the Caritas Parent Info meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 29, at 6:00 pm in room 8.  Plan on an hour....only 1 parent needed unless you both want to make it a "date night"!  See you then!

August 22, 2018

We're back!  Soooooo tired!  I'm sure the kids are also as we all get used to our school schedule.

I've updated the HS Info page with details about HS Info nights for South Bay Catholic high schools.  This is a group presentation from each of the five Catholic high schools in the San Jose area.  Parents/students may visit up to three presentations in one location.  The closest location is St. John the Baptist School in Milpitas.  These events take place the second and third weeks in September, so mark your calendars if you are interested in getting a lot of info in one stop.

I will be updating the various Open House dates as they become available.  Open Houses are usually held on Sundays during October and November.  Please let me know if you have any high school related questions.

August 10, 2018

It's almost time!  First Day of School - Monday, August 13

We will attend 8:15 am Mass, so please leave your backpacks and any other items outside of your classroom (lined up) and find a seat in church.  Families are encouraged to attend with your student.

We will report to the classroom after Mass.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of you!

Welcome to 8th Grade - Class of 2019!
