Our religion curriculum is centered on the Gospel values taught by Jesus Christ. Each child studies the Catholic Churches’ traditions and teachings. With the strength of the parish administration and parishioners, teachers are able to offer their students a faith-filled spiritual life through participation in a multitude of faith experiences. This rich support allows religion to be infused throughout every aspect of Holy Spirit School curriculum and community life.
Each year special academic events are held in a variety of subjects. The junior high puts on the Science Fair whose winners compete at the diocesan level, with the potential of going onto the state level. The entire school participates in a yearly Spell-a-Thon, the National Geographic Bee, and various other activities focused on student learning objectives. Holy Spirit students participate in a variety of diocesan activities such as the Lillian Black Children's Art Festival and leadership training for our student council representatives. Individual classrooms often have special events designed to enthuse the students and increase student learning.
High levels of professional development ensure that instruction utilizes best practices to develop 21st Century skills. Technology is integrated in all subject areas and state of the art tools including interactive whiteboards are used in every classroom. This, coupled with engaging teaching, optimizes a strong academic program and addresses the diverse learning styles of our students. Holy Spirit School’s graduates are well prepared for the rigors of college preparatory courses in high school and are able to be productive Christians in the global community.
